Yay! It is the end of week two and I have used two skeins of yarn and made two accessories! I also sewed up a Maya Top, which I will try and blog about next week.
After debating what to do with the second skein of yarn, I am happy with the results. I am glad I didn’t just stop with the single skein of yarn, because with my thick neck, I need the extra few inches to feel spectacular in the scarf. This project is intended to make clothes that I love and I want to be careful to make the right decisions when I take the time to make something.
I have not ever had fingerless gloves, when I was an archaeologist doing fieldwork, I had a pair of mittens where the mitten would flip up and expose my finger tips, but they were specifically field mittens so they don’t count. Even though we have finally had some relief from the summer heat it will still be a while before I will be able to wear these on a regular basis, but winters are long out here in Montana so I am not worried about having ample opportunity to wear these babies. I learned a lot making these hand warmers. Gloves, mittens, handwarmers, socks and hats really benefit from using a stretchy cast on. I also want to do some more research on thumb gussets because I am not happy with mine.
Next week I am excited about new yarn that I picked up on the random road trip I took this week!
Take it easy,
